- Distinct TCP/IP does dial-on-demand, and it seems to work just fine. The only
- thing I'd like it to do that it doesn't is hang onto the line after the last
- app is closed untill the time-out has expired. I discussed this with them and
- it seems that they hadn't thought of this. They were thinking of the time-out
- strictly as an idle timer, not as a bridge between apps. This isn't a big
- problem, though, as I usually start a session with PC-Eudora, answer any old
- mail (at this point, it hasn't dialed-out, since Eudora hasn't tried to access
- the net), then do a "check for mail" or "send queued messages". At this point,
- Distinct TCP/IP connects, and then I just leave Eudora on the desktop until
- I'm done with the session. (i.e. I might go off and read news, FTP, etc. but I
- don't close Eudora, or the line would drop.)

- Subject: Trumpet wsock recvfrom() ???
-
- Hallo,
-
- Unlike most of you guys, I'm evaluating Trumpet Winsock for
- PROGRAMMING. So far, I've ported a few simple examples that
- I know to work OK under UNIX to Borland C/large model. After
- adding the WSA bits and cleaning up the code (...and they
- use UNIX to teach programming....), all worked fine, EXCEPT
- recvfrom(), which instantly and reliably causes a GPF.
-
- Has anyone seen this WORK? If so, it may still be some silly
- bug on my part. I can post a code sample if required.
-
- Thanks in advance, seeya.
